Marco Polo Virtual Treasure Hunt Description
Greetings Marco Polo!
You are the famous Italian merchant, explorer, and writer. As a boy you were one of the first Westerners to travel the infamous Silk Road. Your journeys are recorded in ‘The Travels of Marco Polo’, a book that described to Europeans the then mysterious culture and inner workings of the Eastern world. Your observations were the first European look into the Middle East, India and all importantly the court of the most influential leader of the time, Kublai Khan and the birth of the Yuan dynasty.
Starting in Marco’s hometown of Venice, your first task will be to collect the funds needed for your long journey. After that you will set sail and pick your route across Asia. At each stop travel choices await you as you pick the next destination on your journey. Travel to Jerusalem to return the holy oil to the city, bargain for camels in Acre to travel across the desert, speak to the wise monks, visit a bazaar in Baghdad and buy the food supplies you need for your next leg, visit the mysterious cities of Samarkand and the famous singing dunes at Dunhuang before you finally find your way to the lost city of Xanadu, where you will meet Kublai Khan and prove yourself worthy to him of joining his court in China.
Along the way you will collect the pieces for the golden Piazzi, which you must show the Khan when you arrive in Xanadu.
This adventure includes true to life historical information from Marco’s diary, and along the way you will learn about the famous cities on the Silk Road and the strange places Marco Polo visited on his travels.
Follow in the footsteps of Marco Polo and be the first to reach the treasures of Kublai Khan!
